Welcome to the Blackboard e-Education platform—designed to enable educational innovations everywhere by connecting people and technology.
ATTENTION SPRING 2014 STUDENTS AND FACULTY!
The Distance Learning Department and IT services are having to apply an emergency patch to Blackboard today at 2:00 pm. Unfortunately this patch will require that we take Blackboard down temporarily which will make e-Courses unavailable.
We are expecting e-Courses to be back up and running between 3:00 – 4:00 pm. We aplogize for the inconvenience!
To: TVCC Spring 2014 Online Students (if you are not enrolled in an online course for Spring 2014 please disregard this message)
Please take a few moments to complete the Distance Learning Survey which can be found at the following link: http://websurvey.tvcc.edu/scripts/rws5.pl?FORM=DistanceEducationSurvey.
The results from this survey assist the Distance Learning Department with future planning so we really appreciate your help!
Students that are required to use Respondus Lockdown Browser (and have been instructed they can take exams from their personal computer) can install the software from the following location: Respondus Lockdown Browser
Students that are taking assessments that require the lockdown browser should start the lockdown browser from "Start", "Programs", "Lockdown Browser" before logging into ECourses to begin testing.
If you receive the following error message when attempting to login to your TVCC e-Courses “Could not login. Valid authentication credentials were not provided” then you have been dropped from your Spring 2014 courses for non-payment (you should have received an email as well).
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT THE REGISTRAR’S OFFICE AT (903) 675-6217
(Please do NOT contact the Distance Learning Department because all student account issues must be handled through the Registrar’s Office).
JAVA – DO NOT UPDATE TO JAVA 7U51
Certain features in Blackboard Learn (which is the Learning Management System for e-Courses at TVCC) rely on Java to work. Oracle released a client-side Java update (Java Update 7u51) on Tuesday, January 14, that negatively impacts some tools in Blackboard. So, to avoid issues with your online courses at TVCC, please do not update to JAVA 7u51! Any version of JAVA below update 51 should work fine in e-Courses at TVCC.
INTERNET EXPLORER – DO NOT USE VERSION 10 OR 11 For PC users, if you are utilizing Internet Explorer (IE) as your browser for accessing e-Courses at TVCC, versions 10 and 11 of IE are not supported. For online courses at TVCC we use Blackboard Learn 9.1 SP 11 and IE 8 or IE 9 are the compatible versions for e-Courses at TVCC. For more details about other browsers and operating systems please visit the Distance Learning Website.
